Puppy Owners

You have made the decision to have a new puppy in your family. It’s an exciting time for your family. It is a big responibility and you have made the first responsible step by buying a puppy from a MDBA breeder.

There is lots to do once you have made this decision and we hope the tips below will help you and your puppy to have a long and successful relationship.

What will I need for my puppy?

You can buy many things for a new puppy but here we have listed the basics:

  • Food and water bowls
  • Appropriate puppy food (your breeder will let you know what your puppy has been eating)
  • A strong leash
  • A soft harness or collar
  • A crate (if you want to crate train your pup or if you want it to have a quiet safe place to sleep)
  • A dog bed
  • Toys

If you are new to puppies it will be helpful to read about positive training methods. Have a family discussion about what everyone expects from the puppy and what behaviours you do and don’t want. It will help the puppy settle in if everyone agrees on this and is consistant in trainingyour pup.

Puppies love routine so work out what your daily routine will be when the puppy comes home.
