Star Drifter (“Drift”) is looking for a new home. We were going to keep him as a future stud, however he hasn’t turned out quite as we had hoped.
He is currently 11 months old. He turns one on 15th May. He will be desexed and have a faecal test before leaving for a new home.
Drift is an absolutely gorgeous sable parti colour with stunning blue eyes. He has had his BAER hearing test done and a full optical examination, and he has normal hearing and vision. He does have distichiasis, which is extra eyelashes. They grow in the corners of his eyes. They have been removed via cryosurgery twice, however they may grow back at some point, so this is something to be aware of.
Drift is a super sweet and affectionate little guy, however he is quite timid and he will bark if alarmed. He is also very submissive and displays mild resource guarding with other dogs (not humans). He loves playing with other small dogs that he has formed a bond with, but he does not like sharing food or being disturbed by other dogs when he’s sleeping. He has no experience with children or other animals besides the dogs he grew up with.
Drift is currently raw fed, has only had his puppy vaccinations and his body is free of flea, tick and worming chemicals. He is a petite boy, weighing about 5.5kgs. His adult coat is starting to come in and it is gorgeous and silky soft. He is mostly an indoor dog, he sleeps on the bed and he was trained as a pup to use a litter tray. He has started marking but once he is neutered that should settle down.
Drift will need a quiet home with calm and gentle people who understand that he will need time to adjust and that he may never be able to be a socialite. He would benefit from at home grooming and a mobile vet, to avoid exposure to unnecessary stress.
If you think you might be able to give this little man what he needs in life, please reach out with some details about yourself.
We also have a 2 year old girl to rehome who was a rehabilitation case. She came to us at 7 months old and is a different dog now. She is still terrified of new people however, and is much more aloof than Drift. She will need a similar home to him but with more allowances for her to run freely as she is very active (big secure yard, not a park or beach). She will also need a safe place to stay when/if visitors come over. Preferably no children. She hates being picked up, and can be very difficult to catch, so she is a flight risk if she escapes. She will snuggle next to you in bed or on the couch, but not on your lap. Her and Drift get along very well (they are aunt and nephew) and I will consider the two going to the right home together.
Boy: $1500
Girl: $1000
