Australian Cobberdog registration requirements

All Australian Cobberdog breeding dogs born after July 1, 2024, must complete a pre-breeding health check every 12 months using the MDBA pre-breeding health check form and send the results to the MDBA.

  1. Before any litter is registered, parents born after July 1, 2024, MUST be assessed for their Hips and Elbows, and reports must be submitted to the MDBA. You can use any recognised method to have your X-rays read and reported. The MDBA Radiology Team is available for this if desired.
  2. Any male dog that is collected that is born after the 1st of July 2024 must have his hips and elbows assessed before collection.
  3. Before any breeding dog is bred, a DNA breed panel test for the breed must be done with any reputable DNA Lab, and the results must be sent to the MDBA. Individual diseases will be notified with recommended strategies as they are identified.

Hip and Elbow scores and DNA results will not be listed on the pedigrees, and breeders are encouraged to send both the bad and the good results to the MDBA, even for dogs eliminated from breeding, to enable us to ascertain the frequency of Hip and Elbow problems and disease incidences in the breed.

It must be included in any application for an infusion as of 1st of November 2024
